About Jyoti Arora

After completing my education, I have worked at Migrant Resource Centre as a support worker to the manager and deal with clients and work with the disadvantaged communities.I developed new work standards and ethics which strengthened my interpersonal and communication skills. With hope to broaden my knowledge, skills and abilities I joined House With No Steps to learn more about working in the Disability Industry. Working with HWNS has encouraged me to respect the work done for people with Disabilities.I started off as a Disability Support Worker with House With No Steps and after gaining immense experience moved on to work as a Team Leader with the intention of enhancing my skills, background and gaining knowledge in program and project-coordination within a challenging work environment. My duties included Monitoring the performance of junior staff, Completing team-related paperwork, Implementing new initiatives and making sure all staff understand them, Taking action to correct and staff shortcomings, Making Rosters and filling shifts, Resolving disputes between members of staff, providing independent living skills to clients using a person centred approach, developing plans and programs with staff members for clients, ensuring smooth working of the programs and attending to tasks and duties assigned by the Service Coordinator. My strong written and verbal skills have been well utilized in this role and I have also demonstrated effective and solid organizational skills.
