About Kacey Dool

Central to my personal and professional life is a deep respect and commitment to social justice, equity, and connection to those around me. Within my personal research and professional praxis, I engage with methodologies that centre decolonial endeavours, creativity, reciprocity, and public-facing scholarship. My current research investigates lasting impacts of eugenic policies and practices in terms of the disproportionate occurrence of coercive sterilization experiences of Indigenous women, girls, and gender-diverse people. A central facet of my research is the role of medical racialization as it relates to the intimacy of ‘Church’ and ‘State’ within settler colonial ‘Canada.’ As a Métis/settler woman, I strive to situate myself both inside and outside such conversations. I have taught in several different contexts, both online and in-person, providing me with well-rounded professional experiences. While I have primarily taught with Queen's University, specifically in the School of Religion, Department of Gender and Black Studies, and the 1st year intensive program at Bader College, Herstmonceux, UK, I also have experience working at the graduate level in Brock University's Master of Public Health Program. I am always eager to explore new ideas, concepts, and spaces, as I thrive in environments that provide both challenges and space for intellectual curiosity.
