Background
About Kadri Laas-Lepasepp
Being a contemporary art manager and organizer means working with amazing artists, being at the forefront of creative innovation, fostering environments where art can stimulate dialogue and cross boundaries. I bring over ten years of experience in managing international contemporary art projects, with a focus on promoting Estonian art on the global stage. With an art history degree from the Estonian Academy of Arts and a Master's in Law from the University of Tartu, my expertise lies in bridging the gap between Estonian contemporary art and the local and international audiences. Since joining the Estonian Contemporary Art Development Center (ECADC) in 2012 and later becoming the Director of Operations, the team has been enhancing the visibility of Estonian artists abroad and strengthening Estonia's contemporary art scene through strategic partnerships. My role as a co-founder and Director of Operations at Kai Art Center is an example of my commitment to lead significant art initiatives that foster international dialogue. Kai as an initiative is particularly close to my heart since it is led by a powerful team of women with the goal of creating nothing less than a well-functioning platform for art professionals that will plug Tallinn into the global art network. In 2023, I was appointed to the Supervisory Board of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia, further enabling me to contribute to the development and sustainability of the contemporary art landscape in Estonia. Beyond my professional achievements, I'm a believer in the power of art to inspire change, advocate for equal rights, fair pay for cultural workers and promote diversity and internationalization within the creative community. My journey is not just about managing art projects, it's about creating meaningful connections, challenging the status quo, and paving the way for future generations of artists and art enthusiasts.
