About Kai Lange

I work as a consultant in anaesthesiology at Nordsjællands Hospital and serve as a Clinical Professor at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Copenhagen. Our research focuses on ensuring that patients remain pain-free during painful procedures and surgeries. We aim to achieve this by developing new methods that are regional, specific, safe, and clinically relevant, while minimizing side effects. It is also important that these methods allow for precise control over their duration. Currently, our techniques include ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks and personalized local anesthetic dosing regimens. One significant challenge we face is extending the duration of peripheral nerve blocks, and we are actively working on creating an innovative and effective peripheral nerve catheter. Recently, we have prioritized identifying critical clinical areas where existing regional anesthetic techniques could help alleviate pain during otherwise challenging procedures. The BLOCK project exemplifies this effort. We are continuously seeking ambitious, innovative, and curious students who are eager to join our team and contribute to our mission of making a difference.
