About Kai Matsuda

As the Head of Commercial and Money Movement Solutions (CMS) at Visa Japan, I lead the strategic growth of our commercial business and money movement solutions for our Japan business. My responsibilities encompass designing and executing sales plans, managing a team to meet business goals and revenue targets, and widening our client base. I play a pivotal role in identifying and scaling strategic partnerships and innovating new business models and solutions. I collaborate closely with local, regional, and global teams, contributing to market growth plans and setting performance targets. My role also involves advocating for the commercial business, ensuring our strategic plans are successfully delivered and growth is achieved. Prior to taking the Head of CMS role, I was the Head of Business Planning, Strategy & Operation for Visa Japan and have been a member of the Japan leadership team ever since joining Visa. Before joining Visa, was the Board of Director and CFO at Ubiregi (mobile POS) Rapyuta Robotics and the VP of Finance at Have successfully led over US$85 mm in equity fundraising while working for three start-ups. In precedent, worked for Goldman Sachs as the VP of global equity sales in Tokyo and in previous, worked for two US mutual fund (Artisan Partners and TIAA) as an Equity Analyst in San Francisco and New York. Prior to MBA, worked in Tokyo for JPMorgan in the Investment Banking/Equity Capital Market team. Received MBA from Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern) and Bachelor of Law from Keio University.
