About Kai Offett

Kai Offett is an interdisciplinary artist who utilizes her art practice as a lens through which to view and create new ways to build community, serve marginalized people, and create equity across art institutions. She is currently a graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Columbia College Chicago. Currently her art practice incorporates multiple disciplines such as painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, collage, and much more. Through these mediums, she explores the crossroads of race, gender, and religion to amplify marginalized voices, venerate her ancestral lineage, and document the experiences of her people. She also hopes to use her experience in art making to inform her curatorial practices to connect historically excluded communities to art institutions and bridge the gap between arts education and engaging event programming. She has a strong passion for activism and community outreach to black and brown people and continues to demonstrate her commitment to serving her community through her membership in the Beautiful Beta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. Through combining her passion for art with activism and service in the future she hopes to open a nonprofit art space that offers mentorship to black and brown youth, networking and educational opportunities, and physical space for young artist to craft their portfolios.
