About Kai Robinson

Responsible for a wide range of scientific instruments at Monash University School of Chemistry. Duties include training researchers, method development, problem solving, maintenance of scientific instruments and managing laboratories. I also analyze samples for our customers. I am experienced in the use of Analytical Instruments both as an end user and through supporting customers as the Technical Specialist for the top scientific instrumentation manufacturers. Skilled in Analytical Chemistry, Thermal Analysis, Atomic Spectroscopy, Molecular Spectroscopy, Titration, Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry. I have had factory-training all over the world to develop these skills. I have set-up hundreds of scientific instruments, developed the applications and trained the users throughout Australia, New Zealand, Timor-Leste, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. Completed Tropical Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (T-BOSIET) covering helicopter safety, Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET), sea survival, firefighting and self-rescue. HUET includes drills simulating a helicopter crash at sea. This is done by dropping a helicopter cabin into a pool, the cabin spins as it sinks, when the spinning stops you must be able to get out of your seat belt, swim to a window, remove it, squeeze through it and swim to the surface before your breath runs out. Great fun and a challenge to swim in the right direction (up) after spinning under water. I have a Masters of Applied Science from RMIT University and are an active member of the RACI.
