Background
About Kaiser John
I have worked in the oil and gas industry since the age of 18. I started off as a welders helper then roughneck on a workover crew (derrick). When I saw the company man driving around in an air conditioned car I asked what job that was. I was told he was an Engineer. I asked my uncles at that point how do I do that job (both were in the oil business), they told me to get a PE degree from the Colorado School of Mines. I applied and eventually was accepted. In may of 1983 I took and passed the EIT exam and graduated from CSM both in the same month. After returning to Bakersfield (my high school home) I worked for my Dad for a while renovating his apartment buildings. In 1985 I took my first PE job with the BLM in Bakersfield. I was a Production Engineer doing permitting and idle well management. In 1987 I got the opportunity to become a Reservoir Engineer and Network Administrator at the Dept. of Energy, Naval Petroleum Reserves in CA. After more than 10 years there I worked myself out of a job and the US Government sold their 80% interest to Oxy. After closing down the DOE operations I moved back to the BLM. During my 10+ years there I reinvigorated the idle well program. Implemented an annual Operators seminar and guided the BLM on a takeover (hostile) of the Naval Petroleum Reserve No.2 which DOE retained in the sale. Along the way my private ventures included CEO for Kaiser Properties LLC and President of Kaiser's Precision Shooting (a sole proprietorship). In May of 2010 the Deep Water Horizon tragedy happened and my application was sitting on some ones' desk at MMS. When the well was capped and all the Camarillo experts returned from the Gulf, I got a job offer in the CA District office. I have been in Camarillo since then progressing from Engineer, to Well Operations Engineer, to Senior Petroleum Engineer, to Permitting Section Chief, to Regional Supervisor Office of Field Operations. I frequently serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for various Government organizations. Thank you for taking the time to review my profile.
