About Kaitlyn Moore

I will graduate in Spring of 2024 from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, with a degree in Secondary English Education and a minor in psychology. I hold a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language(TEFL). My background experience is in Education. I will be certified to teach 6-12th grade English Language Arts in the state of Kansas. I am skilled in working with different groups of people, facilitating classroom management, lesson planning, and supporting young people’s social-emotional development. I have experience working with children aged 2-college in multiple capacities including substitute teaching, student teaching, tutoring, supervising children’s gymnastics and daycare, and working at the University of Kansas as a student Ambassador with college-aged students to support their educational experience. I have also served in nonprofit capacities as the co-director of Alternative Breaks, a university organization that teaches college students about ethical service by sending them on volunteer trips to other states in America. In my administrative role, I have organized for students to participate in service trips across different states and coordinated with resources and organizations to make decisions that benefit both the participants in Alternative Breaks and the communities that the participants serve. In the future, I plan to teach English in middle and high school classrooms across America, teach English as a second language across the globe, and pursue a career in English and education. Originally from Kansas, I am a fervent reader and writer, a lover of walks and hiking, and, above all, an excited adventurer who loves to try new things. As a teacher, my goal will be to give my students a safe space to learn about themselves and the world around them through the multifaceted lens of the English classroom.
