About Kaitlyn Ramirez

As a recent graduate from Baylor University, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with a minor in Biology and Forensic Science. Through my academic career, I have acquired a strong foundation in a variety of laboratory techniques, including organic chemistry lab, modern biochemistry lab, and biophysical chemistry lab. My knowledge of these courses has enabled me to utilize different protein analysis methods, determine chemical characteristics of different proteins, and perform spectroscopy and calorimetry of macromolecule interactions. Currently, I am employed as a Grossing Technician at Epiphany Dermatopathology Lab, where I stain and section many specimen biopsies on a daily basis in accordance with lab procedures. Among my daily responsibilities are the implementation of a new grossing team system of communication, the management of specimen processors, and the use of different interfaces to ensure the compliance with CLIA protocols. Furthermore, I have volunteered at Baylor Scott and White, where I have gained knowledge of patient care operations and sanitation protocols. In addition to knowledge of anatomical locations, I am proficient in the processing of biopsy specimens, as well as the preparation of written and dictated gross notations. In light of my academic background and work experience, I am confident in my ability to contribute and grow as a Histotechnologist in any setting.
