About Kallum Brown

Growing up in a small town just outside the Barossa for the first twenty years of my life has shaped a lot of the way that I do and think about things today. Like most small country towns in South Australia there is a big focus on community which is channeled through the sports teams. Like a lot of people from my area I have an easy-going personality who gets along with most people, but I am also always looking to work hard and challenge myself to be the best that I can be in whatever I do. My whole life I have been involved in team sports such as footy, cricket and basketball which have helped me grow as an individual and as a part of a team. These sports have given me opportunities as a leader of my teams and as a representative of the community. Sports have also helped me understand the competitive side of life where if you want to succeed in anything you must work for it. The qualities and ideals I have developed so far have carried on into my studies and will continue for many years to come.Throughout my five years studying Architecture at the University of South Australia my interests have developed into designing ecologically sustainable projects that provide inclusive spaces and program for the wider community to engage with. This has been developed further through the electives I chose to enroll in which have been environmentally focused subjects. The techniques learned in these subjects have been applied within the studio projects I have worked on. The software I am most confident in using are Revit, Photoshop, Sketchup and Illustrator. I do have brief previous experience in AutoCad and Rhino. I aim develop my software skills along with along with my hand drawing/sketching skills to become a more well-rounded designer. These technical skills combined with my evolving interpersonal skills will provide me with the platform to help me achieve my future goals within the architecture and design profession now that I have completed my tertiary education.
