Background

About Kamal Harb

Doctoral Researcher in Mechanical and Civil Engineering, Research Associate at the Medelia Chair. Medelia is an industry–academia research and innovation initiative dedicated to safeguarding France’s inland waterway heritage by caring for critical hydromechanical steel structures. Hosted by Fondation Grenoble INP with support from Artelia Group and its subsidiary Spretec, CNR, EDF, and the LabEx TEC21, the program brings together the 3SR and SIMaP laboratories around a shared goal: extending the service life of hydromechanical assets through rigorous, cost-efficient and responsible science. My work focuses on reliability-based fatigue life assessment and decision support, delivering robust methodologies that guide maintenance choices—enhanced monitoring, targeted repairs, or timely replacement—while controlling risk and optimising budgets. The ultimate aim: fewer unplanned outages and safer, more durable infrastructure. Additionally, as General Manager and Head of the Engineering Department at Simple-A Tutoring, I contributed to the organisation's success by providing high-quality tutoring services. My academic journey includes a Master's degree in Mechanics of Materials for Engineering and Integrity of Structures from École normale supérieure Paris-Saclay and a Diplôme d'ingénieur en mécanique from the Lebanese International University.
