About Kamala Kandi

I am presently employed as a Consulting Teacher with School District of Philadelphia. I work towards the success of first year teachers in the high school classrooms. My job entails observing teachers in their classrooms, offering feedback, demonstrating lessons, modeling, and providing a variety of instructional strategies to enhance the teaching practice of the participating teachers. I diagnose teacher needs in a classroom and design teacher specific assistance plans. My job also requires me to monitor progress of each teacher, prepare written documentation such as status reports, final summative reports & other narratives and present it to the Peer Assistance and Review (PAR) Panel. Before I joined the consulting teacher’s position, I served as a science teacher for 13 years in various urban schools of Philadelphia. I am certified in Biology and Chemistry in the state of Pennsylvania. I enjoyed my stint as a science teacher by motivating my students into local and state level science fairs. I am also well versant with Google Apps for Educators (GAFE) and other technological tools to enhance teacher’s teaching practice and I support my teachers with apt technology lessons as and when pertinent. Along with my regular charter duties of a consulting teacher, I also conduct professional development sessions during induction and new teacher orientation sessions for teacher effectiveness throughout the school year. I am very passionate about professional development for teachers and am a firm believer that different methods of instruction can be taught that in turn assist the teachers in catering to the wide variety of audience.
