Background
About Kaman Kong
The overarching theme of my work is the spatial and temporal relationships among climate extremes, terrestrial ecosystem dynamics, and our society. My research is interdisciplinary (Atmospheric science, environmental science, computer science, and society). Now, I am studying the interaction between wind erosion and carbon-water cycles of the grasslands ecosystem in the past-present-future at the regional (Mongolia) and global scales under climate change and human activity, using observational (soil physical and chemical properties and vegetation) and satellite (MODIS and Landsat) data and computer models (process-based ecosystem models and climate forecast models) and algorithm (machine learning and data mining). In the future, I will explore the similar problems of wildfire, hot and cold waves, and drought in the other ecosystems (e.g, polar, forest, and croplands).
