About Kanchan Devkota

Experienced R&D scientist with a rich history in the research and private Contract Research Organization (CRO) sector. Recently, completed the Rotman MBA Essentials program, enhancing my strategic and business acumen to complement my scientific expertise. At my current workplace, Dalriada Drug Discovery, I quickly rose through the ranks from Scientist 1 to Senior Scientist and ultimately assumed the role of Manager/Head of Biochemistry and Biophysics within a span of just two years. As a certified Radiation Safety Officer, I play a pivotal role in overseeing radiation-related safety protocols. In this leadership position, I effectively manage and led a dynamic team of talented scientists, responsibilities include business development and client interaction. During this time, I honed my skills in project management, team leadership, and client relations. At University of Toronto and Structural Genomics Consortium, Canada, I actively contributed to enzymatic assays and the discovery of chemical probes against COVID-19 and cancer-related enzymes. Collaborating with renowned pharmaceutical companies such as Merck, Merck KGa, Pfizer, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Janssen, and showcased my proficiency in Protein Engineering, Protein Purification, and Protein Assays. I hold a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedicine from the Novo Nordisk Foundation-Center for Protein Research, University of Copenhagen, Denmark and an internship from Prof. David Sherratt lab, University of Oxford (UK). My open-minded approach and dedication to teamwork, coupled with a strong desire for continuous learning, set the foundation for my success in the field.
