About Kandace Phillips

With 15 years as a dedicated nurse, I have had the privilege to diversify my experience across various specialties. My journey started with floor nursing in medical-surgical oncology as an LVN. After furthering my education I received a chemo certification. Later transitioning to education, teaching the hospital new hire CNA course and a pediatric type 1 diabetes class in collaboration with Tyler Type1 organization, as well as maintaining clinical education requirements for 6 fast-paced medical-surgical units. Looking to expand my knowledge of nursing, I worked as an independent contractor for Texas A&M Health Science center as a Clinical Outreach Coordinator. This role allowed me to travel and experience Rural health care first hand. We implemented EHR software and educated staff of proper documentation of the government grant MIPS incentive program. At the completion of the grant program I took a position as a labor and delivery nurse at UT Health East Texas at Tyler, previously ETMC. This variety of experiences has allowed me to diversify not only my clinical skills, but improve the depth of my education and leadership skills. What truly sets me apart are my top skills: 1.
