About Kaochi Pha

At Minneapolis Public Schools, I serve as a Project Coordinator for Talent Management in HR. Our team coordinates impactful Professional Development projects, ensuring strategic alignment of goals and deliverables with stakeholder visions. My role and educational experience supports our goal of logistical planning for New Teacher Orientation and PD and overseeing critical HR functions like teacher observations and early contract interviews. Our collective efforts contribute to the growth and preparation of educators for the academic year ahead. I previously served as an Employee Relations Associate at Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS), providing advice and consultation to managers on employee discipline, performance issues, and interpretation of bargaining policies and procedures. I collaborated with union committees, managers, and staff members to solve labor related matters and represent MPS in union negotiations and board meetings. With a Master of Education in Youth Development Leadership and over a year of experience as a Human Resources Consultant, I bring a strong background in education and HR to my role. Before joining MPS, I worked as a Freshman Admissions Counselor and Asian Pacific Islander Recruitment Coordinator at the University of Minnesota for two and a half years. There, I recruited and counseled prospective students from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds, especially from the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. I also represented the institution at college fairs, community events, and high school visits. I am passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts and my previous roles have supported these initiatives. As a first-generation college student with Hmong refugee parents, I am ready to continue bringing my unique experiences and perspectives to the workforce.
