July 1984 to Oct 2004 - Extensive line and base maintenance at United Airlines as aircraft technician and in airline operation management role in JFK. Worked as a Controller for United SAMC (System Aircraft Maintenance Control) or commonly known as MCC is the nerve center for global technical operations on a 24-hour basis. The MCC acts as the focal point for all senior management regarding outstation AOGs and the fleet's defect status. It handles all aspects of delays or AOG situations at outstations by providing technical support and co-ordinating rescue operations including real time communication link with pilots solving in flight technical issues. The MCC also controls follow-up work and rectification of deferred defects at every opportunity, including the planning of spares for defect repairs at outstations where suitable ground time is available. By monitoring repetitive defects, the MCC ensures that trouble shooting and rectification is done before any scheduled interruption. Plus, it provides a structured and logical action plan for all such defects to prevent duplication of effort and unnecessary wastage of spare parts and time. Nov 2004 to Present ILFC/AerCap (Los Angeles/Singapore)- Provide technical expertise/support for all technical aspects across lease returns and deliveries including repossession of distress assets (i.e. Kingfisher). Draft, review and negotiate technical/financial term provisions during the LOI and subsequent lease contract. Negotiate commercial terms with relevant suppliers/vendors, MRO, OEM and CAMO. Asset management of each aircraft during its lease life and advise economics to deal team. Review and approve maintenance reserve claims from airline customers and keeping up regulatory changes/assess how this will impact the fleet from engineering/modification perspective. Leading and direct a strong technical team of diverse background in Singapore for the APAC region.
