About Kara D.

I am an adaptable professional with many years of experience in the healthcare field prior to a career change to insurance in 2018. My years in the medical field provided multiple urgent, stress-provoking situations where a combination of immediate problem solving accompanied with effective communication to patients and physicians was necessary. I worked in a Level 1 Trauma Center and became the Team Leader of my shift, managing the workflow and diagnostic imaging for the ER, OR, and all critical care units. This experience taught me leadership and a different kind of problem-solving, as I learned to motivate by working with each employee’s strengths and helped prevent and at times, settle, disputes. When I was chosen to cross-train into the specialty, Magnetic Resonance Imaging by a physician I worked with, I studied and mastered Cross-sectional Anatomy, Quantum Mechanics, and Electrodynamics to learn how to provide this non-invasive medical imaging technique to sick and injured patients. Safety was paramount, so complete and thorough patient histories and screening were completed multiple times each day. I practiced accurate, detailed record-keeping while maintaining HIPPA compliance at all times. My career change to the insurance world came about as I needed employment that provided more flexibility and possible remote options. During the COVID pandemic, I was able to work from home while also monitoring my young child’s attention to online elementary classes. I managed multiple personal and commercial lines’ accounts and wrote new business for both in my first job as an Insurance Agent; then shifted to managing an all commercial account when my agency was acquired by another. I am Property and Casualty Licensed and have earned my C.I.S.R. Designation. I am also currently studying to take the Life and Health licensing exam. I wish to keep learning new skills and advance my knowledge in “all things insurance.” I have seen and felt my experience in the medical field assist me in managing stress, record keeping, problem-solving, and the communication and management of many different clients and business owners, and look forward to continuing to adapt and grow to what your business is in search of.
