About Kara Stevenson

I love a good story – but I am not much of a reader. Along the winding road of my professional journey, I have communicated deeply personal stories about how a nurse provided impactful end of life care; how lineworkers restored normalcy for a hurricane ravaged community; and how a librarian’s storytime inspired a future best-selling author. Spoiler ahead: I have learned success in my field is all about the people. My experience with intentional media efforts, crisis communication and strategic marketing, along with my willingness to learn, strict attention to detail and love for problem solving, allow me to set robust professional goals and grow relationships through networking. This is demonstrated in my current pursuit to complete both Greater Fort Wayne’s Leadership Fort Wayne program (43rd Cohort) and American Electric Power’s (AEP) Emerging Leaders program (1st Cohort). As I pour myself into these intense programs at simultaneous timeframes, I also serve on various community boards and committees, maintain high expectations in my work at Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) and polish my badge of honor as a soccer/baseball/basketball boy mom. I am incredibly grateful for those people who have demonstrated the art of balance as well as the benefit of pursuing professional and personal goals with all I have. From completing my Master of Business Administration – Marketing during COVID to learning more about the regulatory process for a utility – I bring a heavy dose of achiever, arranger, learner, strategic and responsibility-based strengths (thanks, ClifftonStrengths) that keep me motivated in every area of my own life’s story.
