Howdy! My name is Beth Thompson and I graduated from Texas A&M College of Nursing with my B.S.N. in May 2018. Since June 2018, I have worked in various departments of the hospital, with majority of my experience being in an ICU/PCU setting. I currently work full-time in a cath lab pre-operative and recovery unit in a mixed inpatient and outpatient setting, while also picking up regularly on ICU units. My current certifications and licenses include: Registered Nurse (RN) License Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification Ctitical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) Certification An essential component of nursing is communication. As a former Field Service Dispatcher for a software company, I have ample experience communicating with customers, upper management, and other company employees. I was named Part-Time Employee of the Year for Reynolds and Reynolds in 2016, and I received a meritorious performance award from Reynolds and Reynolds that same year. As an ICU/PCU resource nurse, I have been given the opportunity to train and precept multiple nurses in ventilator management as well as in training Trauma PCU nurses, further expanding my experience with communication. I received Employee of the Month for my resource department in January of 2023 and have received various "applause" points from coworkers and upper management at Texas Health. Being in a cath lab recovery unit, I am communicating with doctors and advanced practice nurses on a daily basis, and I have become proficient at coordinating care between different specialties towards a common goal - doing what is best for the patient. I am currently working towards being PALS certified and studying for my GRE. In the future, I want to further develop my knowledge base by pursuing a degree in nursing anesthesia and working as a CRNA. I am excited to see what God has in store for me.
