Complimenting both the postgraduate degrees, my Research Trainee and Microbiology Technician experience has instilled in me various qualities which include working according to GMP Standards, HACCP Principles, MS Office, Problem Solving, Troubleshooting Experiments, SOP documentation, lab testing, and analysis. Starting with recent experience as a Microbiology Technician, helped me gain Canadian Experience in the lab Environment. Speaking about working in the lab helped me gain confidence in a variety of techniques and analytical instruments. The techniques which were garnered during this period include media preparation, aseptic handling of microbial cultures, environmental monitoring programs, facing internal audits, daily water testing, Setting and processing laboratory control Samples, enumerating the microbial plates, and PCR Techniques (BAX & GDS). Moving on to the use of analytical instruments, have gained experience by working with basic instruments such as pH meter, Conductivity meter, analytical balance, autoclave, to complex instruments such as PCR cycler machine. Furthermore, it helped to gain knowledge about other ancillary lab functions such as receiving and managing inventory and working with LIMS, SharePoint, and MS Office. Also, learned some soft skills which include interacting with Clients through emails, working as a team in an organized way, GDP, and good record-keeping practices. As a Research Trainee, I gained proficiency with my laboratory skills, I have worked in a biotechnology R&D Start-up, where the main task appointed to me was a 30-lit batch scale fermenter, for which I carried out media preparation, sterilization, and daily routine microbiological analysis. In addition, to the fermentation process, I worked on the enumeration and identification of microbes, which enhanced my microbiology skills such as preparing media, stock & Buffer solutions, plating, streaking, analytical techniques, and DNA isolation. Also, carried out ancillary laboratory tasks like calibration and maintenance of equipment, routine lab organization and cleaning, and inventory management. To conclude, working in a lab setting, taught me to work with a variety of instruments such as a batch scale fermenter, autoclave, incubators, chromatography techniques, pH meters, spectrophotometers, colorimeters, lyophilize, electrophoresis unit, PCR Cyclers, analytical balances.
