About Karan Talwar

Karan is a film maker and co-founder/curator at Harkat Studios a multi-disciplinary boutique arts studio based in Mumbai and Berlin. He directs narrative and experimental films curates exhibits and performative works and is an arts enabler as part of his work at Harkat. Karan is interested in material memory and experiential storytelling. With a multi – disciplinary background he matches ideas with mediums and his work ranges from conceptual installations to film making. Notable curatorial work includes the ’16mm film festival’ and the ‘Museum of Ordinary Objects’. In the past he has worked an associate director with filmmaker Prakash Jha in mainstream Hindi films like Raajneeti Satyagraha Chakravyuh and Aarakshan. His most recent work is ‘And sometimes she loved me too’ – a short film also shown as an exhibit about the demise of a relationship told through objects left behind. He also released a found footage film called '16mm selfie' - a film made out of found 16mm footage in Chor Bazaar (Thieves Market) Mumbai. Karan was also a fellow at the Curatorial Intensive South Asia 2018 (Goethe Institut Max Mueller Bhawan/ Khoj) and is currently leading the a film curatorial special project called 'India on film' at the Serendipity Arts Festival 2019.
