About Karen Barlow

Executive Summary My career has progressed through both the private and the public sector. I began working in the hospitality industry and through these professional experiences developed excellent customer focused skills, people skills, communication skills, budget and staff management skills and exemplary organisational and administrative skills. To fit my career around a young family I was able to transfer the above skills into a career in education. The skills I have acquired in doing so include: teamwork, understanding of curriculum education practice and challenges, working with parents and children in group and one to one capacities, and working in creativity and technology in line with the national curriculum. In recent years, inspired by my work in the school environment, I set up my own small creative enterprise, organising craft and creative activities for people of all ages. This lead me to undertake and achieve a BA in Art and Design at University of Worcester. Working Part time at Dolan Park Hospital, now Burcot Hall Hospital, whilst completing my degree and subsequently progressing to a full time role of Head Receptionist in January 2018. Managing a team of 6 receptionists. I enhanced my Microsoft Office skills and Business Administration through an online training courses. Career progression to Reception and Administration Manager in July 2020 with 14 staff over a department which has grown due to company diversity during the current global pandemic situation. I am keen to take up all CPD opportunities. I have a clean driving licence and my own car. My website gives an indication of my study focus and Art and Design achievement.
