About Karen Elder

I am both a commercial and pragmatic thinker when it comes to resolving client disputes. My aims are to secure settlement without trial, to preserve costs and maintain excellent client relations. I work hard to ensure that clients fully understand the disputes processes, their options and litigation costs. It is very much a collaborative approach. I have 30 years’ experience in commercial dispute resolution, handling construction and engineering disputes, general commercial domestic and cross border contract claims, shareholders' disputes, contentious probate matters, property litigation, dilapidations claims and professional negligence claims. I have also developed the non-contentious side of my practice in construction and engineering. I provide advice on contractual matters to those involved in all aspects of the construction industry as well as drafting standard form and bespoke construction contracts. Clients range from funders, land owners, developers, contractors, and subcontractors. I am an accredited commercial mediator and co- author of a practical manual on civil litigation published by Oxford University Press.
