About Karen Holmes

I like to start off by saying I am a Strong Advocate for Transgender Rights. I am now a TEDx Speaker which was in Asbury Park, NJ. I am a Radio Host for Inside Out on WPFW 89.3 FM on Tuesdays from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. I am also a writer for a column with the Baltimore OUTloud Newspaper called Trans Lives. On June 7, 2018 I was selected by Capital Pride for Heroes Gala Awards for "Engendered Spirit Award". January 2017 I was selected in the LGBTQ Nation Bilerico Report as one of The Top 50 Successful Transgender Americans You Should Know. I have much to share with the transgender and LGBTQ communities. Since the start of my journey, my platform for sharing my journey consisted of speaking engagements, interviews, stories, photos, and videos. Together we can help quite the turmoil within that suggest we're different. We're not different and we need to continuously express how we are more alike than not. My question to you is your school or work place up with the changing times accepting the Transgender Community? I am available to come to your school, work, or event to speak on my success as a Transgender Woman and what you can do to make my fellow sisters and brothers more comfortable in your environment. We are awesome people who want to be given the chance to prove ourselves and be successful in life. All the transgender community people want to do is prove ourselves and what we can do and not be treated badly. To see and understand more about me go to work for the Federal Government as a Safety Officer at Corporation for National & Community Service since June of 2001 receiving multiple awards from my agency for doing service work in the community. In October 2013 I received "Soldier of the Year" by the State Guard Association of the United States out of 24 states and 23 thousand soldiers. In December 2012 I received "Soldier of the Year" by the Maryland State Guard Association and The Maryland Defense Force.
