About Karen Kerns

I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Interior Design degree from Florida State University and was awarded my Florida license and certification by the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCDIQ). During my college experience I gained great knowledge in architecture and interior design with study abroad programs located in London, Paris, and Milan and Venice Italy. As we see so many European influences in today’s architecture and design I have continued my travels to keep my designs authentic to my clients tastes. My travels included: Venice, Florence, Naples, Capri, Pompeii, Rome, Vatican City, and Sorento Italy; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Santorini and Athens Greece; Monte Carlo, Monaco; Nice, France; and Barcelona, Spain. During my 25 plus years of interior design experience I have had the privilege to work with some of the leading designers, architects, engineers, contractors, and developers along the gulf coast. Projects included restaurants, schools, multi-million dollar homes, offices, condominiums, and many other varieties of projects. The skills in which I utilized during this time included: client presentations and proposals, working with builders and contractors, supervision of installations, specification of interior furnishings, finishes, and window treatments, and creating project concepts from the ground up. I have also been using my CAD skills for space planning design, architectural details, and floor, reflected ceiling, electrical, dimension, and sectional plans. My ability to interpret my clients style along with talent for keeping balance between the function of the space and clients authentic design tastes are among my strongest attributes. I believe by working intimately with my clients, I am able to fulfill their dreams of accomplishing a harmonized design which encompasses all aspects of their life, from the architectural features, elements of the surrounding space, and the character of the client.
