I have been working in the commercial lighting industry since December, 2004, when I moved from a lighting showroom sales position to a commercial lighting sales position at The Lamplighter in Urbandale, IA. After 2 1/2 years, in May, 2007, I moved into the lighting quotations department at 3E, a premier electrical distributor in Des Moines, IA. As a member of the lighting quotations department, I quoted lighting projects of all sizes, and handled the projects I quoted, if the awarded EC purchased a job I had quoted. However, in 2009, based on customer feedback, 3E implemented a project management service, and I was selected to be our first project manager. It fell on me to develop our system of management and implement it. The project management system has been so successful that we now have 4 other project managers in our department, and after stepping back into a full time quotations roll as well as managing large projects - those over I just recently received the opportunity to join our lighting design team. I have received training to layout projects using our design software, and am developing those skills. I am detail oriented, hard working and committed to excellence. My daily responsibilities now include quoting some standard jobs, which entails printing off plans, doing take-offs, negotiating quote packages with factory reps, putting out complete and accurate lighting and controls quotes, compiling and submitting approvals, resubmittal & O&M's, ordering, releasing and handling warranty claims. In addition to this, the design responsibilities require me to complete lighting and controls designs, submitting those layouts along with submittals and quotes for approval and purchase.
