About Karen Prentice

I am a knowledge sponge and have a passion for storytelling, hence my inextinguishable pull toward journalism and communications. After experiencing an enriching education at Carleton University’s Journalism school, I headed to Northern Canada where the real learning began. Ever since, I have been traveling, writing, and telling stories, with a few years of invaluable student-life management experience in between. I spent five years in Kingston, Jamaica as the Executive Director of the National Youth Orchestra of Jamaica, a social development program aimed at enhancing the lives of at-risk youth from inner-city communities and freelanced with Global Reporters for the Caribbean. My last year in Jamaica was spent producing the morning show “CVM at Sunrise” with an incredible cast and crew. I am currently the Director of Content and Communications at Inuit Broadcasting Corporation (IBC) in Ottawa, helping to tell Inuit stories their way in their language.
