In English below) Jeg er professor emerita og dr.phil. i Kulturmødestudier/ Interkulturelle Studier ved Roskilde Universitet. Jeg har altid interesseret mig for hvordan man kan bidrage til uddannelse af kritiske verdensborgere, især i forbindelse med undervisning i fremmedsprog (fx engelsk, spansk, arabisk, fransk, kinesisk) eller undervisning i andetsprog (fx dansk som andetsprog i Danmark). Her er det vigtigt at være opmærksom på sprogundervisningens kulturelle side, bl.a. de billeder af kultur, samfund og verden som man bliver præsenteret for i læremidlerne og i selve undervisningen. Jeg har en stor produktion inden for dette område, fx Det nationale dilemma i sprog- og kulturpædagogikken. Et studie i forholdet mellem sprog og kultur (2003); Language and Culture: Global Flows and Local Complexity (2006); Language and Culture Pedagogy: From a National to a Transnational Paradigm (2007); Representations of the World in Language Textbooks (2018); og (med Lone K. Svarstad) Verdensborgeren og den interkulturelle læring (2020). Jeg er medredaktør af Sprogforum, tidsskrift for sprog- og kulturpædagogik. I am Professor Emerita and Dr.Phil. in Cultural Encounters/ Intercultural Studies at Roskilde University, Denmark. I have always been interested in how one can contribute to the development of critical global citizenship, especially in foreign language teaching (for instance, English, Spanish, Arabic, French, Chinese) and second language teaching (for instance, Danish as a second language in Denmark). It is important to be aware of the cultural dimension of language teaching, including the representations of culture, society and the world that we find in learning materials and in the teaching itself. I have produced widely in this field, including Language and Culture: Global Flows and Local Complexity (2006); Language and Culture Pedagogy: From a National to a Transnational Paradigm (2007); Representations of the World in Language Textbooks (2018); and (with Lone K. Svarstad) Verdensborgeren og den interkulturelle læring [The Global Citizen and Intercultural Learning](2020).
