About Karey Phipps

Ms. Phipps is a leader with over 25 years of professional experience in equal employment opportunity, diversity, equity, and inclusion, compliance, and human resources management. She excels in managing regulatory compliance obligations within robust control environments and builds collaborative relationships with key stakeholders. Proactive in compliance education and training, she demonstrates subject matter expertise in EEO, AA, VEVRAA, and Section 503. As a dedicated Human Resources and Diversity & Inclusion professional, Ms. Phipps brings extensive experience in compliance management, strategic planning, and program development. In her role as a Human Resources Specialist at UNC Health, she ensures compliance with federal and state laws related to affirmative action and EEO reporting. She develops and disseminates the AAP and EEO Report, collaborates with colleagues to foster a positive culture, and designs and delivers educational programs to promote diversity and inclusion. Currently pursuing a Master of Science in International Business with a concentration in Human Resources, she also serves as a Graduate Student Ambassador at the Bryan School of Business and Economics at UNCG, representing graduate programs and assisting with outreach and recruitment efforts. Previously, as a Diversity & Inclusion Business Manager at Credit Suisse, Ms. Phipps researched solutions for D&I and analyzed data to support strategic initiatives. At IBM, she held various roles, including Compliance Program Manager and Diversity Program Manager, where she developed affirmative action plans, monitored compliance, and designed educational materials. She also managed recruitment business controls, ensuring processes were well-documented and risks were mitigated. With a strong background in HR strategy, project management, and diversity initiatives, Ms. Phipps is passionate about creating inclusive workplaces that celebrate diversity and drive positive outcomes.
