About Kari Dorko

Licensed K-12 Spanish Teacher, Licensed Principal grades 4-12, Licensed Intervention Specialist (K-12 Mild/Moderate), Credentialed OTES 2.0 Evaluator I am currently the assistant principal at West Geauga High School, formerly the assistant principal at West Geauga Middle School as well an ELA intervention specialist at Solon Middle School. I have experience in Middle School and High School administration, Middle School intervention, ELA, co-teaching, and small group teaching. I also have experience teaching Spanish 1-4, Spanish AP, Middle School & High School Spanish, and have shadowed in an elementary Spanish immersion school (AMIS). Additionally, I have instructed a collegiate-level Spanish class at Miami University. I have taught in rural, suburban, and urban school districts. I have also coached and served as a faculty advisor/sponsor for after-school clubs/groups. Skills include: leadership, organization, adaptability, differentiation, standards-based and project-based learning, utilizing technology in the classroom, providing an authentic Spanish learning experience, integrated performance assessments, formative assessment practices, communication with parents/guardians, and implementing interactive notebooks for hands-on/kinesthetic learning, IEP writing & implementation, and administration (currently). I pride myself in building relationships with my students and their parents/guardians. I enjoy helping others succeed and to help them reach their full potential.
