Background

About Kari Leighty

I am a dedicated advocate and recent graduate from Shippensburg University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a minor in Women's and Gender Studies. My educational background has equipped me with a solid understanding of sociological concepts, social inequities, and effective communication skills. Throughout my academic journey, I have been actively involved in various campus activities, such as serving as President of the Sociology and Anthropology Club, where I honed my leadership abilities and organized educational and social events. My passion for advocacy and service to underserved communities has been shaped by my experiences, including my role as a caretaker for young children and my volunteer work at Big Red's Food Pantry, where I assisted students facing food insecurity. My current academic journey consists of me pursuing a Master's degree in Social Work through PennWest Edinboro. My ultimate goal is to become a therapist and focus on adolescent aged students. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to make a positive impact on society and am actively seeking opportunities in advocacy, community outreach, and advising adolescents. If you're looking for someone with strong leadership, organization, and event planning skills, as well as a passion for serving others, please don't hesitate to connect with me. Let's work together to drive positive change and create a more equitable world.
