Several years of experience working with children, young people and families in the Hunter region. Extensive experience with youth and families as a Family Support Worker, community outreach worker, and Youth Support Worker. Experience working with children, young people, and Families in Out of Home Care. Skilled in Mental Health First Aid, trauma-informed care, therapeutic crisis intervention, co-regulation, de-escalation, And youth advocacy in a variety of settings. Involved in the development and delivery of youth programs within High Schools in the Hunter region; With experience in facilitating programs surrounding Domestic Violence, Mental Health, AOD, self esteem, Anger management, bullying and sexual health. Currently working as a Family Support Worker in the Samaritans Permanency Support Program. Providing supervised visit support, supporting child and parent engagement and connection, restoration support, and strength-based reflections using worry and goal statements. Facilitating post family visit debriefing and support with parents to provide an opportunity to reflect, and develop understanding and insight using a collaborative and strength-based approach. Experience acting up in Team Leader role within the PSP program. Youth Support Worker with Samaritans Supported Independent Living. Working closely with the young person in all aspects of independent living including managing and maintaining a tenancy, meeting job seeking and educational requirements, home cleaning and hygiene, cooking and meal planning, financial independence, and social and emotional well-being. Experience in supporting young people to receive mental health care, Centrelink support, social housing supports, Disability support and NDIS funding and reach their educational and employment goals.
