About Kari Roy

I have always harbored an immense passion for the environment. This love only grew as I got older. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in wildlife science from New Mexico State University in 2008. I went on to complete my Master of Science in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Environmental Policy and Conservation in September 2012 at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. Once graduated I returned home to Los Alamos, New Mexico and began working at Los Alamos National Laboratories (LANL). Here I began as an Environmental Scientist where I assisted with ecological studies, and surveys involving avifauna, small mammals and vegetation transects. Some projects included bird surveys, avian monitoring with mist-netting, and Mexican spotted owl surveys. Soon I changed positions within LANL and started work as a Deployed Environmental Professional (DEP). In this position I provided expertise and assistance with compliance of various environmental laws and regulations such as the Clean Water Act (CWA), Clean Air Act (CAA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Spill Control and Countermeasures (SPCC), and Storm Water Pollution Prevention One of my primary functions had been to effectively communicate complex regulatory issues with customers and others involved. I am well versed in databases such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and have regularly used these to prepare and present environmental protection and compliance reports. Now I am ready to start a new chapter in my life. I recently got married and moved to Abu Dhabi, UAE this February 2019. Moving to the UAE was a bold move but I believe a rewarding one. I am looking forward to search for a new career opportunity in a well-established organization, where my academic background and personnel skills will allow me the opportunity of growth.
