About Kari Wojtkowski

I absolutely love teaching others and find it very rewarding to teach our future scientists. Currently, I am employed as an adjunct at various colleges/universities in the St. Louis area, and have taught 10+ years, not including individual labs taught or graduate student teaching duties. I teach most subjects in the Physical Sciences, from Topics in Physical Science to Earth Science to Astronomy to Introductory Physics (Algebra & Calculus-based) to Biomechanics. Ultimately, I would like to teach Physics and Astronomy full-time at a college in the St. Louis area. My dissertation research focused on using infrared spectroscopy to determine the chemical composition of dark molecular clouds toward young stellar objects (YSOs). Specifically, I looked at gas and ice toward YSOs in star forming regions and look for correlations with the age, location, and environment of the YSO. Specialties: I can perform Image processing and data analysis with IDL. I have experience with NIRSPEC on Keck II, SpeX on IRTF, and IRS on Spitzer. I have taught students from a variety of backgrounds-from the traditional student right out of high school to working adults returning to school. I have used Blackboard extensively and am a certified Peer Reviewer for the national Quality Matters program for online teaching. I am certified to teach online courses at both St. Louis Community College and Jefferson College.
