About Karim Ali

I’m a Postdoctoral Associate at MIT, focusing on integrating microscale LES models with numerical weather prediction (NWP) tools and analytical wake models to better capture boundary layer interactions in offshore wind farms. My work aims to enhance the predictive capabilities of wind farm modeling across scales—bridging fundamental physics with practical applications in renewable energy. I hold a Ph.D. from the University of Manchester, where I specialized in atmospheric flow modeling and wind farm simulation. My research sits at the intersection of fluid dynamics, meteorology, and engineering. Before academia, I worked in industry on CFD-based thermal analysis for automotive and energy systems, including projects with partners such as FCA and Aramco. I’ve also delivered over 300 hours of teaching in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, propulsion, and renewable energy at the University of Manchester and Cairo University. I’m always open to collaboration and new research conversations.
