About Karim Khouri

As a Senior Process Safety Engineer at Air Products, I lead and review process hazard analyses (PHAs) for various process units, using HAZOP methodology and risk ranking criteria. I also ensure the implementation and verification of safeguards, and provide coaching to the pre-startup safety review (PSSR) team members. In addition, I develop layer of protection analyses (LOPAs) for process deviation hazards identified during PHAs, and identify and close risk gaps by implementing effective solutions. I have successfully reduced the frequency and severity of safety incidents by 30% in the last year, thanks to the collaboration and support of my colleagues and managers. I hold a Master's Degree in Process Systems Engineering from the University of Surrey, and a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering where I gained strong knowledge and skills in process safety management, risk and process risk management, HSEQ management systems, and chemical engineering. I have also obtained multiple certifications in HAZOP methodology, NEBOSH, pneumatics, H2S awareness, and offshore safety. I am passionate about enhancing the safety culture and performance of the organization, and I constantly seek to learn and improve my competencies and practices. I am motivated by the challenge and satisfaction of delivering safe and reliable solutions for the industrial gases & chemicals industry.
