About Karin Farinder

Always curious, listening and driven I come with a conviction that sustainable development is the only way forward – working with all three dimensions: ecological, social and economic. I have experience from private companies of various sizes as well as work within the public sector, commitment within the non-profit sector together with having my own small consultancy firm. My main field of experience is the food sector from a broad perspective, having had positions within development, marketing and business strategy. Process manager, project manager, product developer and product manager are examples of roles I have had. I have also had interesting roles as board member and would be happy to explore new such possibilities. As responsible for the development of the Gotland regional strategy on food and food production (2016-2025) I received among many things knowledge of the food system. I also gained an understanding that it is important to strengthen the links between performers or group of performers within the system to sustainably develop the food position. I believe cooperation is a keyword to achieve the necessary development. I am used to working together in teams towards set goals, as well as on my own and I am happy with a balance between the two. In the relation with others, I want to listen and take responsibility for us working well together. I am used to meeting people with various background and find it important to listen and work to understand their different thoughts and needs. From former colleagues and partners, I have heard that I am a good listener, structured, clear and reliable. I have also received feedback for being creative in the problem-solving process, having good analytical skills and being able to lift tricky questions for the benefit of the team. And I prefer to form my own opinion before throwing myself into something. Finally – I like the beginning of things, but I also simply need the endings. I like structure, as said, and having a plan. But I am also humble about the need for being flexible and having to change the plan. And being curious and driven - I am also keen to learn new things!
