About Karin J. Sherrill

Karin J. Sherrill, RN, MSN, CHSE, CNE, ANEF, FAADN, is an experienced nurse educator with a bazillion years of teaching experience with Maricopa Community Colleges. As a faculty educator, she has integrated a flipped classroom with active learning, served as a simulation coordinator, integrating simulation and technology into the nursing curriculum, and developed several faculty training programs. Most recently, Karin has become a nationally recognized expert in Clinical Judgment and integration of the Next Generation of NCLEX. Karin has been involved with many projects, including the first online Associate Degree Registered Nurse program, participation in the first cohort of the National League for Nursing’s Health Information Technology Scholars program, and lead author for the Informatics Module for the National Council State Board of Nursing’s Transition to Practice study. Karin has worked with the National League for Nursing, facilitating Live Review courses, Elsevier consulting on SimChart, Skyscape consulting with SkillsHub, FA Davis consulting with Davis Advantage and EHRTutor, and the NurseTim Consulting team on many projects. She has authored books and articles and has chaired several committees, including the Simulation Integration Management, Testing, Resources, and Student Success Committees at MaricopaNursing. She is the founding president of the Arizona Simulation Network and a member of the task force of the TIGER initiative. In 2011, she was inducted into the NLN Academy for Nurse Educators and the Academy of Organization for Associate Degree Nursing in 2017. In 2019, she was selected as a recipient of the Dale P. Parnell Faculty Distinction Recognition by the American Association of Community Colleges. She is a past president of the Arizona League for Nursing Constituent League, a member of the American Nurses Association, the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing, the National League for Nursing, the Arizona Simulation Network, the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning, the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society, the National League for Nursing’s Academy of Nursing Education and the Academy for Associate Degree Nurses.
