About Karin Proper
As a human movement scientist and an epidemiologist with a specialisation in work and health, I have a strong background in the effects of physical activity in working adults. My research has always have a focus on work, lifestyle behaviour (especially physical activity), and health. I have ample expertise in epidemiological studies to the relations of work, physical (in)activity, overweight, cardiovascular health, and mental health, as well in intervention studies to promote physical activity and health in a large variety of worker populations. My double appointment at RIVM and VUmc clearly yields inspiring interdisciplinary collaboration and translational research, e.g. on the topic of shift work and ageing workers. Moreover, I am well able to contribute to the utililisation of the scientific knowledge to the broader setting outside the university.
