About Karl Blom

Creating and providing innovative chromatographic and mass spectrometric tools to support the drug discovery process has been my occupation and my passion for over thirty years. I seek to work in close collaboration with the chemistry community to create novel approaches and solutions to enhance and expedite their research. Whether developing new paradigm shifting technologies or refining current methodologies, my focus is always on making the chemist more successful. I have developed dynamic groups within several organizations providing diverse, high impact analytical support. Some recent custom support efforts include open access prep LC-MS purification (fully automated, simple, reliable, high quality, real-time purification of diversity samples); open access analytical LC-MS (simple, diverse, high quality, very high-throughput support for reaction monitoring and qualitative and semi-quantitative sample characterization); thermodynamic solubility measurement; prep SFC chiral purification; various informatic solutions for real-time access to status and results of analyses. I received my PhD from the University of Delaware where I achieved “simple country mass spectrometrist” status and learned to “think outside everybody else's box” under the tutelage of the late Prof. Burnaby Munson. I have 29 publications detailing select innovations.
