About Karl Bouchard

I am a developer with 16 years of experience based in Saint-Roch, Quebec City. I have now garnished a great skillset over the years, having worked from game development to mobile app development and web development. I highly value professionalism and respect for each others. I'm an efficient developer and I put my heart into the projects I work on. Although I touched a bit of everything by being a full stack developer in the last third of my career, I always preferred programming over working with visual or doing devops/infrastructure work. I've worked with many different languages but as a senior ActionScript developer, my favorite languages are TypeScript and C#. That said, I'm a huge fan of Flutter/Dart. After working twice on a big project used for real-time meetings, which needs to stand the test of time and requires multiple years of development, I've forcibly taken a liking to clean coding and code architecture. Creating database architectures is also something I really enjoy and I'm the weird guy that actually likes doing Unit Tests and refactoring code to make everything nicer. I've definitely grew fond of Development Testing over the years. That said, while I like doing backend programming, my expertise and love resides on the frontend side with data and state management. I love making two "different systems" communicate together, wheter it is backend/frontend or backend/database communication, or simply creating an API or providing the necessary data to the UI. Whatever the language or technology, I'll thrive when focusing on these parts. I've worked on a few personal projects to further increase my skills in different favorite technologies of mine- Music Album Review Website (C#.Net, Microsoft SQL Server, Html/CSS, Photoshop)- Horror Movie Database App with custom search fields and graphs with yearly/decenially release stats.(Python CSV Parser from IMDB dump, Flutter/Dart, Node.js/Typescript, MongoDB)- 2D Space Shooter style game (Unity, C#, Piskel)- 2D platformer game (Godot)- Various Video/Audio editing using Ffmpeg Work aside, I'm passionate about 80's horror movies, music and video games, Souls-like & Metroidvanias in particular! I collect vinyls and Playstation games. I like cooking food at home (absolutely love indian and asian dishes) and enjoy a few microbrews from time to time. Also love my 4 cats:) Cheers!
