About Karla Colin

For over 10 years, I have worked in the architectural and construction industries. My experience dates back to my years in college, where I was able to gain invaluable experience working for a civil engineering firm, Yuna. My main role at the company was as an Architectural Drafter. However, my time at Yuna gave me the opportunity to work in different disciplines that included Architectural, Structural, and Soil Mechanics. Working professionally while pursuing my Engineering in Architecture degree, I sharpened my organizational skills while reinforcing my ability to prioritize to help meet both my professional and educational deadlines. I remained with Yuna until 2013 when the company split and became known as Ingysis. The CEO of Yuna/Ingysis gave me a recommendation at ThyssenKrupp where I began working as a Project Architect. With my short time at ThyssenKrupp, I designed industrial facilities for a popular multi-national food and drink conglomerate, with one of them being the largest industrial facility in Latin America. I was granted a scholarship for a master’s degree and made the decision to further my education. As part of my experience after earning my master’s degree, I’ve worked with companies that have implemented ecofriendly techniques and innovative ideas helping to change and reshape the construction industry, such as Cemex Inc. I’ve acquired contracts in both the private and public sectors generating more revenue for companies. I managed turnkey projects involving project development, supervision of construction teams, billing, scheduling, and monthly forecasts of workflow. In addition, I acted as a mentor for colleagues in digital programs, coached new recruits and entry-level architects and have provided performance-enhancing feedback for company members.
