About Karla Jacobs

For over twelve years, I have been serving as a Commissioner at the Georgia Commission on Women, a state agency that advocates for and celebrates the women of Georgia. I was appointed by Governor Nathan Deal in 2012 and reappointed by Governor Brian Kemp in 2021. As a commissioner, I work with state agencies and nonprofit organizations across the state on issues such as human trafficking, health, and education. I represent the commission on the Statewide Human Trafficking Task Force and the Georgia Coalition to Combat Human Trafficking, where I chair and co-chair subcommittees on community awareness and education, and training, respectively. In these roles, I leverage my skills in leadership, team management, and public speaking to provide training and support materials on human trafficking topics, speak to civic groups and the media, organize online and in-person training programs, and promote the wellbeing of Georgia women to legislators. I am passionate about networking and helping like-minded advocates find each other and collaborate on common goals. I am also a writer, and my work has appeared in various publications and platforms, including my own weekly newsletter, Sweet Tea. I enjoy sharing my insights and perspectives on current events, culture, and politics with a wide and diverse audience.
