About Karley Laverty

I create meaningful connections and thrive when I see measurable, successful change within my work. I am a public health professional with a Bachelor of Science in Community Health Studies from Portland State University/ OHSU and a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), I have almost a decade of experience in domestic and global health education/ promotion and program management. I have lived and working experience with youth and adults from various cultures and backgrounds. I was named the 2017 Volunteer of the Year at the Immigrant & Refugee Community Organization (IRCO)(Portland, OR), was elected the Vice President of the Stomping out Malaria committee for the Peace Corps health and education cohort of 2018, gave a presentation about local programs for youth with a refugee background on a panel at the 2019 Idaho Conference on Refugees with over 100 attendees and currently serve on the Board of Directors for Rafiki Village Project since and the Collective Voice DEI Council for Optum. I focus on policy changes, building and sustaining relationships, addressing systemic and institutionalized inequities, health disparities and injustices to ensure mental, physical and environmental healthy living for all. Additionally,I focus on impactful and sustainable change while highlighting a seat at the table so all voices are heard and respected. I continually practice this through empathy, compassion, advocacy and rigor. I am dedicated to building and sustaining meaningful relationships, driving policy change, and addressing systemic inequities and health disparities to promote mental, physical, and environmental well-being for all. My focus is on creating impactful, sustainable change while ensuring every voice has a seat at the table, is heard and respected. I approach this work with empathy, compassion, advocacy, and unwavering commitment.
