Karol Davidson received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1994. She joined the staff of the former Texas Youth Commission in serving as a hearings examiner and staff attorney. Before working in state government, Karol spent 6 years in Ohio working with Legal Services Corporation firms as a civil trial practitioner, focusing on consumer, education, family, property, and public benefits law matters. In Karol's current role as Deputy General Counsel for State Operations TJJD she provides legal advice and training in the areas of education and mental health law, confidentiality laws and public information requests, administrative standards for the operation of juvenile facilities and programs in the state of Texas, and general issues affecting the rights of incarcerated juveniles. Respecting these areas of practice, Karol reviews, analyzes, and assists with the development of administrative rules, agency policies, an procedures, and proposed legislation. Karol serves as the TJJD enforcement attorney for disciplinary proceedings concerning the certification of juvenile probation and supervision officers, liaison with the Office of Attorney General on litigation matters, and the supervisor of the TJJD open records department. Karol's years of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as an attorney with a juvenile sevices governmental agency enables her to provide consistent and reliable legal represenatation to both public and private entities. While attending the University of Texas, Karol was a national champion and All-American for the Texas track and field team. Karol was inducted into the University of Texas Hall of Honor in November 2014. Her current hobbies include running and avidly playing golf.
