About Karst Smit

I have over ten years airport planning experience, delivering high quality and innovative solutions for complex projects. During my career I have specialised in airport capacity studies, terminal and airfield planning, and airport safeguarding studies. In my current role as Airport Planning Manager for Virgin Australia I look after all the airport developments across the network. I ensure that the proposed projects deliver sufficient capacity for our growth ambitions and that they deliver value for money. These projects require my ability to find operational solutions and unlock capacity constraints to maximise the airports capacity and improve the passenger experience meeting our ambition to be Australia's most loved airline. I utilise my knowledge in strategic planning, capacity calculations and aircraft and passenger flows during these projects.
