About Karyn Taylor

I’ve spent quite a few years working in both the charity and retail sectors, mostly in management roles. Over time (more years than I’d probably admit!), I’ve learned that no matter what job you’re doing, it’s all about bringing passion, dedication, energy and a good dose of cheerfulness—to the table. In the later part of my career, I’ve been lucky enough to find a role working for an incredible charity that’s making a real difference in suicide prevention and mental health awareness. Every day, I get the privilege of fundraising alongside an amazing team of people. Seeing firsthand the impact they have on so many lives is what keeps me motivated to keep raising those much-needed funds. My motto is, ‘If you don’t ask, you don’t get!’—and there’s always a thoughtful, respectful way to ask. It’s all in the approach! Working for Hector’s House this ask is easy - I know that the work the team do saves lives. And it’s all driven by the most incredibly passionate founder - Robert Stringer. I feel really lucky to be involved in all sorts of things—from supporting amazing volunteers and coordinating events to writing grant applications and working with both corporate and individual donors. No two days are ever the same, and I really enjoy the variety and the challenges that come with it! I genuinely believe that with enough dedication and determination, so much more is possible than we often give ourselves credit for. It’s not always easy, and there are definitely bumps along the way, but if you stay focused and keep pushing forward, you can achieve far more than you might have imagined.
