About Kashif Raza
Kashif is an experienced educator who has taught education courses at secondary and post-secondary levels in face-to-face, online and hybrid formats in four different contexts (Canada, Qatar, USA and Pakistan) for more than 10 years. His teaching has focused on educational leadership and policy, ethical decision-making in education, equity, diversity and inclusivity in curriculum and instruction, legal and ethical literary of educators, and multilingual education. He has facilitated the development and implementation of institutional teaching and learning strategies, including course management and delivery, program-level curriculum review and development, and institutional-level education policy growth. Currently, Kashif works as a sessional instructor at the Werklund School of Education, University of Calgary and Faculty of Education, University of Regina. As an interdisciplinary scholar, Kashif's research interests include legal and ethical literacy, educational leadership and policy, teacher development, critical immigration studies, English language teaching, multilingualism, and inclusive education. Through collaborations with colleagues in Canada and internationally, Kashif has published two co-edited volumes:'Policy Development in TESOL and Multilingualism: Past, Present and The Way Forward'(Springer, 2021); and 'Handbook of Multilingual TESOL in Practice'(Springer, 2023). He has also shared his knowledge and expertise with higher education researchers and educators through more than 30 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, blogs and book reviews and 50+ invited talks, webinars, workshops and conference presentations. His current research agenda focuses on aligning educational offerings and outcomes with labor market needs while committing to decolonization, reconciliation, anti-racism and social justice in course design, research and teaching for diverse learners. Kashif's forthcoming works include a monograph based upon his doctoral research, two co-edited volumes on educational policy and adult education, and several journal articles and books chapters related to teacher education, multilingual education, language policy, and work-integrated learning. Kashif is a law graduate and holds an MA in TESOL from Oklahoma City University, USA and PhD in Educational Research from the University of Calgary, Canada. He has also received training in university teaching and learning, anti-racist pedagogy, and Indigenous education.
